ACL Rehab: Running Preparation (Panariello/Hansen)
This week’s post features a guest article written by Rob Panariello and Derek Hansen on preparing an athlete for the running gait cyle during post-operative ACL rehabilitation.
I have been extremely fortunate to have had regular correspondence with Rob since our interview (which is a must-read) last year as in my opinion he is one of the best kept secrets in the field. Rob represents the increasingly rare breed of therapist that understands the difference between rehabilitation and performance training, how to address this continuum, and what is necessary to prepare someone for elite athletic performance. He is also just a really nice guy and generous person which is equally getting harder to find.
Similarly, Derek is among the best Track & Field coaches currently in action, having spent time under true coaching legends such as the late Charlie Francis. Derek also runs his own website (www.runningmechanics.com) where he divulges world-class information, I highly recommend this resource for anyone involved in athletic training.
Given their credentials and the above information, I am both humbled and excited that Rob and Derek consider this website an appropriate place to publish their article (which can be accessed in pdf format by clicking the link below) for the first time.
